Goodyear Rawhide MT/R

When the world leader in radial truck tire design applies its incredible expertise to the design of a flagship ATV tire, great things are bound to happen. The result is Goodyear's Rawhide MT/R radial ATV tire. It should be no surprise that the Rawhide MT/R is destined to become the Side-X-Side replacement tire of choice for drivers seeking the ultimate in performance and riding comfort.

Goodyear determined that a radial design would meet the toughest criteria set forth by the most demanding UTV enthusiast: namely, a tire that would go anywhere, in all conditions, while providing excellent steering response and the ride quality.

Goodyear's radial tire experience is vast. And Goodyear's engineers knew that a radial design would allow them to fine-tune the handling and ride quality of the Rawhide MT/R without sacrificing straight line stability, wet and dry trac-tion-including mud-and cornering capability. The MT/R utilizes two carcass plies and two tread belts; all four are nylon. In keeping with true radial design, the orientation of the two carcass plies, which extend to the beads, are laid at 90 degrees to the centerline of the tread. The two nylon tread belts stabilize the circumference of the tire. This construction results in greater carcass stability and uniformity while minimizing tire growth and distortion through the contact patch. In addition, the combination of plies and belts produces an extremely durable, puncture resistant carcass that carries a four-ply rated casing.

Next, Goodyear designed a tread pattern that is derived from the Goodyear Wrangler MT/R light truck tire, a proven mud design that has demonstrated its worth over millions of tough-duty miles. Utilizing a rubber compound that is adaptive to a variety of terrains, the 5/8-inch raised, self-cleaning tread blocks do an amazing job of gaining a foothold in hard pack and mud alike. On more even terrain, the radial design offers a quieter, smoother ride than a conventional bias-ply tire, absorbing small and large bumps with aplomb. When the pace quickens, the MT/R delivers with precise steering and surefooted, agile cornering performance.
